To the T.E.A.M.

It has been an exciting summer for the Transportation Employees Association of Missouri.  As most of you know we worked very hard to help MoDot and the ACG get the work zone safety bill passed.  Scott Banes, a motorist assist operator in District 4 and myself spent many hours and trips to Jeff City to testify before the House and Senate transportation committees.  Our efforts and the efforts of MoDot G.A. people and the AGC all paid off.  As you have probably heard the bill passed and was signed by the Governor on June 30, 2006.  I had the opportunity to be present as the Governor signed SB872.  That was an exciting time for us.

On the same bill on August 28th,2006, that law went into effect.  There were four news conferences around the state.  I had the privilege of attending the one in District 4.  Our district engineer Beth Wright thanked the T.E.A.M. for our participation, as did director Pete Rahn in his presentation in Jefferson City.  Scott Banes and myself were honored to unveil the new sign.  It was a pleasure to work with Harry Hill, Mike Michelson, and all the organizations to get this bill passed.

Just a reminder our next state T.E.A.M. meeting will be September 30 at the Truman Hotel (formerly Ramada Inn) in Jefferson City at 9:00a.m.  Some of the items we will be discussing will be our 2007 legislative proposals.  We have decided to ask for funding for deferred comp, Hazardous Duty Pay, and wage increases. Just to name a few. Bring any other suggestions with you to the meeting.

I have attached some pictures of the bill signing and the sign unveiling.  Hope you all enjoy them.
