Fellow T.E.A.M. members: August Newsletter
The General Assembly on August 11 was a good meeting. We had a good turn out with a lot of new faces. I’d like to thank you all for attending. We had a great time at the pool party cook out on Thursday evening at the Truman Hotel (formerly Ramada Inn). There was representation from 5 chapters there. Good food and good company. Hope you all enjoyed it too.
Sue Cox was our guest speaker at the meeting. She is the newly elected active employee member of the Retirement Board. She talked about what she would like to do in her 4-year term. She would like our input and ideas. Remember she is there to be our voice.
We discussed legislation for the 2007 session. Some of the issues from last year will probably come back up again this session. Your fellow members discussed issues for this legislative session. Such as prior service, deferred comp, hazard duty pay, and pay increases. In the coming weeks we will meet with Harry Hill, our lobbyist, to discuss our strategy to get our legislation passed. Hopefully our prior service bill won’t hit any roadblocks this year. If you have any suggestions for bills you can contact me through our website www.moshea.org or you can call me at 816-506-3933. All ideas are welcome.
Speaking of the website. LeAnn is doing a great job of keeping it up to date. Remember there is now a page for each chapter to put their information on and share with others. If you have new officers please send that information so we can get it updated. Our web page is a good communication tool and we need to use it.
Our next meeting is set for September 30, 9:00a.m.at the Truman Hotel (formerly Ramada) in Jefferson City. For room reservations call 573-635-7171.Hope to see you there.
As always if you have and questions or need anything let me know.
