Text Box: The winners of our quarterly $50.00 give-a-way for the first quarter of 2007 was Daniel Schaefer from the Central Office membership and Preston Drace from the District 5 membership.  Winners for our second quarter drawing was Barbara Shelby and Eric Schroeter.  We will do another drawing toward the end of September.  Must be a member to be eligible so encourage your co-workers to join.  Numbers speak loudly at the capital when it comes to getting legislation passed.

Text Box:  Well, just like that the 2007 legislative session is over.  As you all know , the Governor has signed a 3% cost of living increase for state employees and S.B. 127 which was the Prior Service Purchase Bill passed.  The Transportation Employees Association of Missouri feels we had a successful year and want to thank those legislatures that supported our issues.
On June 9th,  we held our quarterly Statewide TEAM meeting which was attended by our Central Chapter Vice President Caroline Pearon.  At this meeting our lobbyist, Harry Hill gave a report on the 2007 legislative session and suggested that we focus on one issue for the 2008 session.  This led to a discussion on what we should focus on next year.  Although we will make a final decision at our General Assembly Meeting in August, it was thought that an increase in the state match to our Deferred Compensation Plan would be Text Box: important to more employees. A committee was formed to work with Don Hillis on a monument he wants to erect as a memorial for employees that have been killed in the line of duty.
On the local scene,  your Central Chapter of the Transportation Employees Association held an annual meeting back in April.  We partnered with the District 5 Credit Union to put on this event.  Approximately 250 people attended and a good time was had by all.  We had an excellent meal,  played Bingo for some nice prices and visited with friends and co-workers.  I was given the opportunity explain what the Association was working on and encouraged those in attendance that were not
